Act Two: Nuggets, Roundabouts, and a Side of Growth

Summer’s curtain call is near, and there’s one story I can’t stop replaying.

My kids — in a quiet French village, full from dinner — decided they wanted McDonald’s.So they hopped on their bikes.

🚲 18-minute ride ↩️ 4 roundabout loops 😅 A detour or two 🍟 And triumphantly, burger, fries and nuggets in hand… mostly.

When they burst through the door, they were in fits of laughter.

Apparently, on the way back, the Coke got tipped. It leaked, melted the McDonald’s bag, soaked the nugget box.

Some nuggets survived. Some… didn’t.

And they didn’t care. They loved the chaos of it all.

That whole little adventure — it’s the kind of moment you hope for as a parent. Not the mess, but the confidence, the humour, the memory.

This independence didn’t just happen. It came from the not-always-fun bits: 🍫 Letting them order their own pastries 🧺 Reminding them (dramatically) about laundry and dishes 📍 Nudging them into situations where they choose action

In coaching, we talk about motivation — but it always works better when it comes from within. In their case: food. In mine: freedom. And a few quiet moments to marvel at the humans they’re becoming.

Even if they smell like fries, Coke and soggy nuggets.
