When Innocence Meets Growth

This past weekend, I hosted my daughter’s 11th birthday party. The house was filled with laughter, music, and a kind of carefree energy that only kids seem to have.

And as I watched them, I felt something tug inside me. A memory of when I was like that — innocent, unguarded, assuming the best in everyone.

Life has a way of changing that. Tough seasons teach us to build walls, to be careful, to hold back. I used to think losing that innocence meant losing me.

But here’s what I’m learning:

👉 Growth doesn’t erase who you were.

👉 Experience doesn’t cancel kindness; it makes it intentional.

Maybe we can’t go back to who we were before the world taught us hard lessons. But we can choose to show up with strength and softness, wisdom and wonder.

And maybe, just maybe, that’s what real authenticity looks like.

✨ Growth isn’t about pretending the hard things didn’t happen. It’s about letting them shape you without dimming your light.

Oh, and the party? Zero tears, zero blood, zero broken bones. I call that a success. 🎉
